B's Birthday!

The morning of B's party she came down the stairs and was so excited to see all the decorations!! She had a Little Einsteins party and loved all the fun Einstein decorations! (She calls Little Einsteins "Pat Pat" because when the rocket takes off you have to help him by patting your legs. She learned how to saw pat pat before the Little Einsteins so the name has stuck)!

B loved her Rocket cake! This was my first homemade Birthday cake and I think it turned out pretty well! That night after all the festivities B came up to me and said, "Thank you for my pat pat cake mom!" It was so sweet!

She loved blowing the candles out and was able to do it all by herself!

The kids had fun making musical shakers and dancing to classical music with them. I let M stay home from school to be my big helper that day. I think it was actually kind of hard for her. She wanted to play with all of B's toys but B wanted everything to herself. By the end of the party M was crying. I asked why she was crying and she said "Because it isn't my Birthday!" I thought it was rather funny!

Everyone had fun at the party. I was glad R was off of work because he did the majority of entertaining the kids (as well as cleaning up and vacuuming all the cake crumbs up after the party)!

B really had a fun Birthday! Thanks to everyone who helped make it special!

Peony

When B was born my parents were here. Instead of bringing me flowers to the hospital, they planted flowers in my flower beds. They planted yellow marigolds, pink zinnias, and this beautiful peony which comes back every year. I love these flowers and they always remind me of B and the fun I had with my parents when she was born!

After M's ballet recital I gave her a bouquet of peony's! They were so pretty. I never realized they smelled so good!

Little Ballerina

Isn't my little ballerina beautiful! She had her dance recital this past Saturday. She did such a great job!

Here she is floating across the stage!

This is one of her best friends and our neighbor. They have fun taking ballet together!

It was so fun watching all the girls up on stage. M has been fun to watch as she grows and learns each week in her ballet class! We love our little ballerina!

B is Three!!

Dear B,
I can't believe how quickly three years has gone by! B, you have always been such a fun addition to our family. Your arrival was quick and daddy had to catch your leg when you were born so you wouldn't fall! You burst into the world with loads of personality and it has just continued to bloom. From day one you have smiled and brought a lot of joy into our home.. These are just a few things I love aboutyou and things you love now:

*You're quick to smile

*You are spunky

*Despite your small size, you can stand on your own!

*You love your friends

*You have a contagious laugh

*You are quick to forgive when mommy loses patience.

*I love the way you talk. The other day you wanted a light turned on and said, "Daddy, can you help me turn the light on, cause I too mall (small)"

*I love your cute hair...from the mohawk stage to the curls you have now!

*You will stop me in the middle of something and say, "love you too mom"

*You love your sister.

*You get excited when daddy comes home and run and hide so he will find you!

*You love being outside and playing.

*You are never far away from a pair of your many sunglasses and you wear them for hours at a time!

*You loves "pat pat" (The Little Einsteins)

*When you don't want someone to do something to you...like tickle you...you will say "Stop, I don't like that!"

*I love all your great hugs and kisses.

*You have an opinion on what you wear, including the shoes!!

*You love to sing, especially during nursery.

*I love your big, bright blue eyes! (people often stop us in public to comment on your beautiful blue eyes!)

*You talk to strangers in the grocery store.

*You love anything purple. If I tell you it's time to go take a nap and get your "purple" bink, you often run to your bed and climb in "all by myself mommy!"

*You talk to a man at church that is kind of down and out. It puts a smile on his face every Sunday.

*You probably have a dozen binks in your bed, but only use one. Yes, the purple bink!

And most of all I love you because you are you! I love you BB. Happy third Birthday!

Love, Mama

Sisters

I just love how much my girls love each other. Tonight M sat down to play with her leapster and B sat right next to her with her head on her shoulder, just watching.

B loves M so much and always wants to be doing what M is doing. M is patient for the most part, and so compassionate. She gets so sad when B is upset and does anything to make her happy. I love that they have each other to be best friends with. It makes me think of my best friends and how I miss both of my sisters who are far away!

M's Birthday, Sort Of!

It isn't actually M's Birthday, but since she has a summer birthday her teacher let her celebrate her birthday today! (I never celebrated my birthday in school since I was a summer baby so I am so glad her teacher let us do this!)

M loved the fact that it was her special day. All day today she has tried using it to her advantage. For example:

B took a toy that M wanted

M: B, can I please have that?

B: NO

M: But it's my Birthday B. (imagine sad puppy dog eyes here)

B: It's not your Birthday, it's mine!

In B's defence her Birthday is Sunday, so we have been talking it up quite a bit lately!

In addition to it being her pretend Birthday her school held a flag day celebration today. We have been hearing all kinds of patriotic songs around here as M practiced for the big event!

M's music teacher asked all the kids to wear red white or blue today. M wanted a flag dress. We searched high and low and couldn't find a flag dress. I wanted her to wear the outfit B was wearing but she didn't think that related to the flag at all. We settled on this outfit because the colors were right and there was a tiny flag on the tag, which satisfied M. (Of course, after I bought the outfit I did find a cute dress...o well!)
When we weren't having luck finding a dress I told her she might have to wear her outfit she already had. She became very emotional (ie. upset) and said that her music teacher would be mad if she didn't have a flag outfit. I love how literally kids take things!

Back to the Birthday! M wanted chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. She has complained all year that everyone brings in white or yellow cupcakes and she never eats them because she doesn't like them. So , I made chocolate cupcakes and put a cute little flower on top for the girls and some sort of green design for the boys. M wanted to stick Hannah Montanna rings in the top of the cupcakes but I thought that would ruin the look. (Hannah Montanna is a whole other post for me! She has never once seen the show and yet she still talks about her all the time!) We settled on just passing out the rings, and no the boys didn't get rings!

She had such a fun "Birthday" today. She loved sharing with all her friends. She even went and tracked down five of her other teachers (p.e., music, library, art, etc) to give them a treat. She is so thoughtful and loves to share. I asked her if she even ate her cupcake and she said she had a couple bites! I think it was just fun for her to wear her Birthday crown today and have a special day with her friends. We love her so much, Birthday or not!!

By the way, I got bangs!!

Swept to the Side

Full Bang

I haven't had bangs since high school! Kind of a fun change for awhile!

Second Tooth = Trama

BEFORE: Here is sweet M with one tooth missing and one extremely loose tooth. She has been complaining that it is hard to eat so we decided it was time to attempt to pull out the second tooth! (Isn't her dress cute?!)

DURING: Here daddy is trying to pull M's tooth out. She kept biting down while he tried to take the tooth out. After about twenty minutes of crying and one extremely loose tooth, mommy gave it a pull and got it out!

AFTER: What, are those tear stained checks?? Why yes they are. M was totally traumatized by this tooth pulling. The first tooth popped out with one try. This tooth was much looser but took way longer to come out. I think mommy and daddy were pretty traumatized as well. From now on, we'll let mother nature or M take her own course and get the tooth out without help from us. Poor little M! Hopefully the tooth fairy will be good to her tonight!

Burned

Today we had a picnic at R's work and I went with B while M was at school. We had a fun time, although the weather was humid, it was at least cloudy to keep us somewhat cool. I didn't really think to put sun screen on since it was cloudy...duh!

There is something about getting sunburned that makes me feel really guilty. I mean, getting a bit of sun here and there is fine, but when I get really red, I feel a ton of GUILT. Come on, I know that sunburns can lead to cancer...and is having a great tan really worth it? NO!

I know I like a good tan and anyone who knows me knows I LOVE tan feet! (through in tan lines and it makes it that much better!) I am just educated enough to know that being burnt is not good! Next time I'll do better. Besides, being bright red is somewhat embarrassing as everyone has to comment and how red you are for the next couple of days! O well, life goes one. (I hope I at least get some color from all this pain!!

Kindergarten Concert

So, M's kindergarten concert was on May 13th, but I guess it's never too late to report on it!!

The kindergartners were split into two groups since there was too many of them to perform together. M was front and center since her and the other little girl next to her were the shortest kids out of both classes. (Was was excited to wear her Sunday shoes because they did make her a bit taller!)

The songs were really cute and M did a really good job when she had some solo parts!

M with a few of her friends in her class. It always makes me laugh a bit when I see her with these girls because she is so short compared to most of them. She sometimes gets upset because she gets called little and she thinks that means young. I try to tell her she is just not as tall as some kids and that is ok! I guess I always wanted to be tall when I was little so I guess I can understand!

B and M wore matching dresses which were really cute. M got flowers after her performance which she was really excited about!

This is M's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. D. M loves her and we think she is great. She is such a great teacher and I am so glad the first teacher we have dealt with in public schools has been so great!
