Sunday Shoes

I just got these shoes from Target this past week! I wore them to church today with a black dress, fishnet stockings, and silver and black jewelry. They are more sparkly than the picture shows. They are cute but kind of hurt my feet. They are only about half an inch higher than my other high heels but I could totally tell the difference. They are fun for three hours on Sunday though!

Popular

So here's to thinking I'm more popular than I really am! I ordered Christmas cards without counting all the people on my list. I ordered 90 thinking that would probably be enough. After addressing 65 I can't think of anyone else to send them too! I guess I'm not as popular as I think!!

Dinner Conversation

We just had dinner and M was not thrilled with her choices...chicken, fresh pineapple, stovetop, and cauliflower. The following then occurred

M: I don't like this dinner

Me: That is not a polite thing to say...if you would just eat what you like and leave the rest without complaining you wouldn't have to try it. Now that you have complained about it you have to try it.

M: I really don't want this.

Dinner continues rather quietly for the next five minutes and I just try to let M eat on her own before I start force feeding her.

M: Can I have some more cauliflower please?

Me: Stunned Silence

Makes Me Happy!

Things that have made me happy today~

*Finishing a home made Christmas gift and mailing it off today! (and being told it would get there by Christmas)

*Getting M ready for school and watching her excitment in anticipation of pajama day at school

*Taking time to play with B this morning

*Having Hot Chocolate and a donut for breakfast...rare...but a fun treat!

*Getting Christmas letters printed and hopefully all addressed today

*Feeling a bit more in control of my emotions after a ruff couple of days!

*Having my husband home for the morning with me!

*Beautiful snow outside...something that I'm not usually happy about but today it is especially fluffy and pretty!

*Getting an email from my best friend from college. It wasn't long but was all I needed to brighten my day!

*Blogs...I just love feeling like I am a part of your lives!

My Girls!

I love these little girls! I love their fun personalities and spirit. Tonight, I love that they are in bed but I will also love them when they are bright eyed in the morning as well...as long as it isn't too early!

Sunday Shoes

I think these are really cute and would look good with the black dress I'm wearing in the post above!

Stocked

I love it when we are totally stocked on food. We are supposed to get a huge snowstorm this weekend so R went to the store and brought home lots of food! It makes me feel good to know that we have plenty of food. I must get it from my mom...she always has some sort of meal she can throw together no matter how long it's been since she's been to the store. I'm not that good but I do like knowing I have plenty of food if I need it!

Book Fair

M had her first book fair this past week. She had so much fun picking out her own books. I needed to drop something off to her at school so I stopped in when she was at the book fair. She had already picked her books and a little multi colored pen. I had given her money but she was in need of one more dollar! She gave the cashier the money and then got her books in a bag. As she was getting ready to go back to the class room she wondered where her money was..."why didn't she give it back mom?" I thought it was pretty cute! I wish the cashier gave me my money back as well after I bought something! I had to show the picture of her standing because this is the school outfit she picked all by herself. She looks so cute in her little ballerina inspired skit! She is so fun to watch learn and grow. This week the lesson was money and how once you spend it, it is gone!

Blue

Today I woke up feeling a little blue. I sometimes get overwhelmed with life and today was one of those days. Yesterday, I had decided that I would skip my run today so I could get more done. After getting M on the school bus and mopping around the house for a bit I decided that one sure way to make me feel better was to run...so I did. I have never run to make myself feel good...I always run to get it over with and then I feel good. I am sure not everyday will be like this but I was happy that I got myself out of my rut. On top of all that I ran faster than I have run in the past five years. I ran a 11:02 minute mile. I ran two miles in 23:30 minutes and three miles in 38:28 minutes. I guess sometimes when you push yourself you surprise yourself!

Music

I have always loved music. Ask anyone in my family and they will tell you from a young age I wanted to be an opera singer...of course, most of my siblings weren't very supportive of that goal! Then I thought I could be a gospel singer like Sandi Pati, but my mom told me most Mormons don't get paid to sing...I guess times have changed quite a bit though if you look at church book stores! So I guess the point of this is that I am always singing and I love all kinds of music. I know I don't have the best voice and am not always on pitch but that doesn't stop my love! I love how music helps me feel the spirit, how it helps me feel alive. I could be having a bad day and hear a good song that changes my mood completely. When I am running the song that is playing can affect so much. When I hear Guns N' Roses Welcoming me to the Jungle or taking me to the Paradise City I get an adrenaline burst and can push through my running. I sometimes think if someone was to look at my MP3 player they would think my choices were not very cohesive. I go from listening to top 40 (yes, I'll admit it), alternative, soft rock, rap, hip hop, to heavy metal when I need a pick me up (thanks Matt and Jared for introducing me to this music when I was just a child)! Although I wish I was part of some cool band I still love music and the many ways it can make me feel!

Numbers

So, my brain works in weird ways sometimes. Lately I have had a lot of numbers in my head. I look at things and equate them to numbers. I watch the timer on the treadmill as I run, I notice how many seconds/minutes I have been running, how many minutes do I need to still run, I count in patterns to make my run go by more quickly, how many laps have I run, what number of calories have I burned, what number is my heart rate...get the picture?! I do this a lot when I am running and numbers seem to be important. I guess my favorite number this week happens to be 15. Why 15? Well, 15 is the number of weeks I have gone with working out every week! Some weeks I have worked out 6 days a week, 3 miles a day. 1 week I ran 1 time since I was sick, but when I felt better, I got back to exercising! I guess the point is I am totally proud of myself. I am usually an all or nothing type of gal and I have been able to keep up my running whether it was 1 day a week or 6. Hopefully, 15 weeks from now I will update with a 30 week post, but for now I will just focus on the 1 day ahead of me!

Snow Day!

Today was our first official snow day here! M was not too happy to have missed school but was excited about playing out in the snow! (I am sure in a few years she won't mind missing school!)

Most people realize that I do not really love the snow/cold. M thinks that only daddy's play in the snow, so today when I told her I would take her outside I could see the shock in her eyes. I guess I felt guilty since I knew R wouldn't be home until after dark so they wouldn't get a chance to play unless I took them.

I bundled us all up (which B hated) and then we headed outside. M immediately started jumping in the snow, making snow angels and throwing snow balls at me. She is so much fun!

B had to be forced to put her snow gear on but once she was outside she loved it. She spent almost the whole time outside just eating the snow! Even when I was pulling her on the sled she would let her hand drag in the snow bring it up for her snow treat! She had so much fun and didn't want to come in...even after the two hours I spent outside with them! I'm so proud I lasted so long! (The new winter coat I got Friday probably has something to do with it! My first official coat for the cold...it's only taken six years for me to break down and buy one!!)
