Gymnastics

B, waiting patiently for her turn on the bars. Pretty good since patience is not always a virture she has yet...especially at gymnastics!!

B loves getting in the harness and swinging over the trampoline. She always wants to go high! She has been pretty fearless since she started gymnastics!

She also loves swining on the rings!

At the end of gymnastics she gets stamps and loves it. It only lasts a little while because they wash off in the bath...but she enjoys them while they last!

M also loves ballet and gymnastics. She has two of her friends in the same class so that just adds to the fun! I didn't get many picutes of her because her class was in an area I couldn't get good pictures...maybe this week!

Labor

OK, so I have been watching those baby shows on t.v. lately...no, I'm not expecting, just passing the time while sick! I have to get on my soap box and share for a minute. I can't bellieve how many of the moms on the shows say they want to have a baby with no drugs and end up getting epidurals. I am always shocked when they say...I wanted to do it without drugs but the pain was just so extreme. One lady was just barely in labor and she complained to her doctore that the pain wasn't getting better...it was getting worse. OK, come on ladies...it's called labor for a reason! I don't have anything against drugs...if you want them, take them. I guess I just think there needs to be reasonable expectations. Labor hurts...bad...real bad! Don't expect to just get through without drugs if it doesn't hurt...because it will hurt. One of the few things in life you can count on...labor equals pain! It is hard but worth it, either way I'm sure. I am blessed to have had two labors, drug free, which have been very exciting. I don't think all women are meant to go without drugs. My thought is if you want to not use medicine...then don't give yourself the option, because it will hurt. If you want drugs, take them, do what is right for you! That's my piece of advice for the day. Make up you mind and just do it. I guess I could take that advice in other area's of my life, but I'll save those thoughts for another day!

Wordless Wednesday

I'm Back!

So, R and I have been down and out...both with bronchitis and sinus infections! I can't remember a sickness that has been worse...give me 24 hours of throwing up any day! As a matter of fact, give me labor with no drugs...at least that is over within a day! This has been crazy. I guess we are on the down hill now so things are looking brighter. We're still sick but at least now I can blog! You know when I miss a Sunday Shoe post...I'm sick!

SICK of being SICK!!

For the past three weeks someone in our family has been sick. It started with R, and B getting a really bad cold. That cold moved to me, then turned into a funky cough. R now has the funky cough and feels feverish. M has had strep throat this past week and got a cold on top of it. Those of you who know her, know she doesn't deal well with a runny nose, so she has been just delightful to have around! Just to add one more thing, M got thrush (a yeast infection in her mouth) due to the antibiotics she has been on. She now has to take the "most disgusting medicine ever" to combat that on top of her antibiotics. I guess I hate to sound like I'm complaining...but who am I kidding...I am totally complaining!
(I thought this picture of B, summed up my feelings!!)

Overheard Tonight in the Car

Me (speaking to B): I love you dolly.

B: I not dolly, I ME!

B's Hair!

Yesterday, B's hair was so cute. It had so much curl in it I just had to take a few pictures. It loses it's curl as she plays/wrestles throughout the day, but I still think it is cute!

Today B stumbled in the bathroom while I was flat ironing my hair so I decided to straighten her hair! I can't believe how straight it got. I think it made her look so grown up. She has so much craziness in her hair and I have never seen it so straight. Of course, after her nap, it was kinky, but it was fun while it lasted!

My Monday

So my Monday was filled with lots of different emotions. So here is a brief overview of the day.

R woke up with M at three in the morning and she had a fever. When we got up in the morning she seemed fine. Late in the morning she complained that her throat hurt and she threw up...sorry for that detail! She laid on the couch for the rest of the day and was so sad. I didn't think to check her temperature because I just thought she had the flu. She was so hungry and thirsty all day but again, I thought she had the flu so didn't feed her. We took her temperature in the afternoon and she had a temp of 105. I called the doctor and they had me bring her in. It turns out she has strep throat. Poor little girl.

After getting medicine in her, having her temperature come down, and allowing her to eat again, she was almost hyper! Some kids get medicine and get sleepy, but not M. Even Tylenol with codine makes her supper hyper and silly, not the least bit sleepy. I am glad to say that today she is doing much better since we have been keeping the Motrin and antibiotics in her.

So, M had this really sad day and B was so fun all day! She played so nicely and watched in concern as her sister threw up right in front of her. She was very kind to M and concerned about her.

She also had a great day at gymnastics. R took her and said she was the best she has ever been, which makes me happy.

She also ate more food than I have ever seen her eat. She has not been much of an eater her whole life but last night she ate, cooked carrots, a first, mashed potatoes, a first, pineapple, and roast beef (four helpings)! I realized at dinner it was really quiet and I looked over and saw that all her carrots were gone and she was working on the mashed potatoes! I guess if you just keep putting things in front of them they will eventually try them!

Hopefully her body will be ok with the shock of vegetables in it!

The other day M was playing with daddy when daddy left to use the restroom. M came over to me and had this conversation with me:
M: Mom, I know how boys go potty!
Me: You do? Who told you?
M: My friend at school.
Me, very interested now: How do boys go potty M?
M: they go potty through their belly buttons while they stand up.
Me: They do!!!
M, very proud of herself: Yep!
Me: Your silly M. Do you want to know how boys really go potty? (not sure I want to answer but I guess she needs to learn)
M: No thanks mom. (and goes back to playing)
I was prepared to tell the truth but I don't want to force her to hear it. When she is ready I guess I will tell her. I tried telling her at least that boys belly buttons have nothing to do with going to the potty but I'm not sure she believed me! She is growing up!

Sunday Shoes

As I left church today and felt the air that was 17 degrees blow against my legs, I thought I could use a pair of these for the winter!

New Hair Cut for M!!

BEFORE...

AFTER!!!

M wanted a haircut like mommy's so I took her to get it cut last night!! She had so much fun but was a little shy during the whole thing. I think she was confused by the hair stylist washing her hair. She told the hair dresser the water was the right temp. but later told me it was too hot! I guess I need to teach her to speak her mind!

She looks so cute but when she was all done I thought she looked older! I can't believe my little dolly is growing up!

Mommy Art

On Saturday M was coloring and B wanted her to color an Elmo (Melmo is B is saying it!) for her! M didn't want to be bothered so I colored on for her. I started coloring and M became very interested and wanted to help me. She wrote Elmo's name, did his feet, colored the shade and did some scribbling. B did the blue scribbles! M looked at me and said:
"Mommy, your a good artist! You should be in an art class!"
I was quite flattered. I know I'm no Picasso and sometimes don't like coloring because I'm a perfectionist, but M liked it. I had fun coloring with the girls and now they think I can color anything! I had the same thoughts about my mom when I was little. I guess sometimes we just have to let go of being perfect and just have fun!!

Good Morning!!

This morning we all got up together, which is actually pretty rare on weekends since R works three out of five weekends. R made us all pancakes. Not just any pancake though...mickey mouse pancakes!

The girls love mickey mouse pancakes but their requests are getting more difficult. M always wants a minnie mouse pancake and B keeps asking for daisy duck pancakes! I just make the standard mickey mouse and cut it up and tell them it is whatever they asked for!!

When I told B to smile so Grandma could see her she gave me her big cheesy smile. She squints her eyes and throws her head back and twists her mouth into a somewhat smile! She is so goofy!

Hope everyone else has had a good morning!

Yankees!

Several times this year M has come home from kindergarten telling me about the Yankee's and how much she likes them. She tells me that at recess the kids chant "Yankee's rule, Red Sox drool" (I don't think I am very happy about this since I'm not the biggest Yankee's fan, but o well!) Yesterday she came home so excited. On the way in from the bus stop she told me that all the kids in her class drew pictures for the Yankees and in return the Yankees sent them pictures back. Whey we got inside she pulled out a picture of A. Rod that he had signed! So fun! She liked the picture because she said daddy had the same hat as he did and the same wedding ring! She was so excited and it was fun to see!
On a side note....I'm an Angels fan, grew up going to games every year and loved it. I have been to several other professional baseball games including a game at Yankee stadium. The Yankees were playing Atlanta when John Rocker was still on the team and after he had made his bad remarks about NYC. I have never seen a stadium get so rowdy when he ran out to pitch...crazy. Too bad he ended up striking everybody out and winning the game for Atlanta!

Mother Nature

So I think mother nature is taunting me today! We have had beautiful blue skies and sixty degree temperatures. Why am I complaining you ask...

Because we still have tons of this! Too much snow left to go out and really do much in the nice weather we are having. I'm not complaining that much though...I'll take this any day!

Fun with B

Today has been a good day with B! She has been so much fun! We have played a lot and she has just been silly!

Today she let me paint her finger nails and toe
nails for the first time! We have attempted it before but those attempts have ended up in her crying wanting the color off her nails! I thought today would be the same but it wasn't! She even picked purple for her fingernails...her color of choice these days...and pink for her toe nails!

She also picked all the clips and bows for her hair! She has a purple, a green, and a yellow flower clip in her hair and four bows! She also picked out her clothes today. M was always easily convinced of what to wear but not B! If she has something in mind and she can see it, she is stuck on wearing it. A few weeks ago she wanted to wear the princess dress grandma made her to church! I finally put it on her because I figured she would change her mind. Unfortunately she didn't! Lucky for me it snowed too much to venture out to church! She did enjoy her dress though! I love my little B!

Sunday Shoes

Gotta love a red shoe...a little white never hurt either! So cute with navy, black, yellow, I guess just about anything! The best compliment I think I can get is something along these lines... "Those shoes look so great, I wouldn't be able to wear them but they look great on you!" As long as you are confident wearing something, people won't question it!

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve was a fun one this year. We went over to our friends house for lunch and all the kids decorated Christmas cookies for Santa! We had fun talking, playing the Wii and munching on yummy food!

After our lunch R had to go in to work from 2- 11:30 pm. Not the greatest shift for Christmas Eve but I guess they just can't put the nuclear power plant on auto pilot! The girls and I still had a fun Christmas Ever.

They both got to open one present which happened to be new jamies! They both loved them and slept nice and cozy in them that night!

When we were getting ready for bed M was getting worried that Santa would try to come and we would all be awake. She even wanted me to go to bed! Just before prayers I heard a loud noise and looked out the window and saw one flashing red light! Of course I thought it was Santa's slew being guided by Rudolph so I yelled for M to run and see! She ran over and got to see the red light flashing! She was so excited! I picked her up and hugged her and realized that she was shaking from excitement. I also think she was a bit nervous that Santa would pass us by if she didn't get to bed soon!

After sighting Santa we went to M's room and red The Night Before Christmas and sang some Christmas songs before the girls went to sleep! It was a fun and exciting Night Before Christmas in our house this year!!

New Years Ballerina's!

Last night M performed in a ballet recital. The place where she takes ballet and gymnastics participated in our community's First Night. A lot of the down town stores stayed open and had special events going on.

M was actually a bit nervous waiting for her classes turn to perform. M and her good friend next door M were watching all the other classes perform through the window at the studio...there wasn't much sitting room!

Although she was nervous once M gets in front of a crowd she does well.
We ended up staying for only two of the three performances. It was really crowded and she was a bit overwhelmed with the chaos. She was also tired and knew we were going to her friends house for a party after she danced. She didn't want to dance three times...twice was enough for her!

M has two really good friends in her ballet class. The girl on the left is a year older than her and lives next door to us. The girl on the right is in M's kindergarten class. M gets so excited to see either of these girls!

Happy New Year!

I can officially say Happy New Year before I go to bed! Most years I don't really care about staying up on New Years. This year R had to go to work at 10 pm so we went to a friends house to party! He left and I was going to leave but didn't end up leaving until 12:30! M and B played so well the whole night. B got tired about midnight and came over and wanted me to hold her. She laid her head on my shoulder and fell asleep! It is very rare that she falls asleep anywhere but her bed so that was kind of nice having her cuddled up on me sleeping. M had a ballet recital tonight. She made it through the first performance but we left before the second. She was a bit overwhelmed with the big crowd and she wanted to go to her friend, K's house to play! I'll post some pictures soon, for now, it is time for bed!
